Preview the Remastered Classic Journey: This Complimentary Trial for DQ7 Reimagined Lands Shortly.

Players eagerly awaiting the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait much longer. An exciting demo version is set to go live on the seventh of January, providing a sizable look into the game's beginning segments. Importantly, all advancement earned within this demo is eligible to be transferred directly into the complete game upon its February launch.

More Than a Simple Re-release: A Complete Reimagining

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined represents a from-scratch reinterpretation of the landmark year 2000 JRPG, first released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a significant departure from recent Dragon Quest re-releases, such as the recently launched HD-2D iterations, this version adopts a charming 3D art style. The world have been crafted to look like detailed miniature worlds, with characters featuring a whimsical chibi-esque look.

"Taking into account the 3DS remake, the main quest was still notoriously lengthy. Therefore, we reached a determination that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] craft an experience for modern gamers."

Major Mechanical Improvements & Modernizations

The development team have introduced a host of enhancements to update the classic gameplay loop. These include:

  • Expedited Field Battles: Inspired by modern role-playing games, weaker foes can now be dispatched directly on the overworld map without entering a full turn-based combat screen.
  • Variable Combat Pace: Gamers can accelerate battle sequences to rapidly power through easier encounters.
  • New Job Mechanics: A brand new character role has been created for this remake. Additionally, characters gain the option to master a second vocation, significantly expanding strategic options.

Such alterations are aimed at address a key the original title's most noted criticisms: its considerable scope. The initial main quest was known to take over 100 hours to complete. This reimagined edition has been specifically reworked to improve flow and cut down on perceived repetition.

Save the Date: Demo & Full Launch Information

Interested players can begin experiencing the transformed world of Dragon Quest VII firsthand when the complimentary demo goes live on Wednesday, January 7th. Subsequently, the complete adventure, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, will then be set to release on 5th February 2026.
