Christantus Uche Fuels Straightforward Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their maiden European adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Without star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding result that all but guarantees them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight passage to the last 16, particularly following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Grasp the Opportunity

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second consecutive match.

A Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season proved outmatched against a largely second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

Dominance Established from the Outset

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, driving a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

The formerArsenal striker didn't need to wait long to get his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still room for development in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
